I drew influence from One Piece, Pirates of the Caribbean, and video games such as Assassin's Creed and Sea of Thieves. These helped form the visual style and assets for the scene.
I adapted the scene to fit its new context, transforming it completely while keeping it recognisable. I kept the core structure, with twin platforms, staircase, bridge, and stone walls.
I started by taking reference photos of the site, here I adjusted the perspective in Adobe Photoshop, then imported them into Blender. Once I had an idea of the proportions and space, I drafted concept sketches and began modelling in Blender.
I began this digital process with the loop cut tool, this helped me transform the 2D reference images into 3D. Once I captured the geometry and sense of space. I procedurally modeled the individual elements, brought in models, textures and animated the scene with a flag and an ocean simulation.

Laser Cutting
I took to Adobe Illustrator where I designed pieces to laser cut. Using card and MDF board, I
textured, painted, and assembled pieces together. I also 3D printed elements for the scene, and
used varying materials like clay, string, sand, plaster and gloss gel, in addition to techniques
such as dry brushing, to help create the physical diorama.

Reference Photos
I took this as an opportunity to expand my knowledge with Blender. This project allowed me to push myself as a creative with physical model building, something I previously wouldn’t have imagined myself doing.
